God Will Finish What He Started In You PDF Print E-mail

Open your Bible to Philippians chapter 1 verse 6: "Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."  People talk about having favorite Bible verses.  I have to confess that Philippians 1:6 is one of my favorites.  The truth that God has revealed here is something every Christian needs to understand.  If you are a true Christian today it is because God began and is continuing a mighty work in your life.  That work is absolutely guaranteed to turn out successfully, because it is God’s work, not man’s.  If you have been born again by the Spirit of God, then you don’t need to be afraid of ever being lost, because the God who called you will be faithful to complete the work he began in you.

In this short verse Paul tells us four things about the good work that has begun in the life of a Christian:

First of all, Paul speaks of…

Little Is Much When God Is In It PDF Print E-mail

John 15:1-9

My brothers and sisters, when I hold a basketball in my hands, it’s just a basketball. But when you place that same basketball in the hands of Michael Jordan, it turns into collegiate and professional championships. Put a paintbrush in any of our hands, and it’s just a paintbrush. But put a paintbrush in the hands of Picasso, and you get priceless works of art. If you put a tennis racket in my hands, you may get the ball to go over the net every once and a while.  But put that same tennis racket in the hands of the Williams’s sisters, and you’ll come out with Wimbledon Championships.  The bottom line is that if we put what we have in the right hands, we will get amazing results.

So why can’t we do that with God? Imagine what could happen if we put our limited resources into HIS hands?  Think for a moment what we could do for the Lord if we decided to give him everything we’ve got?  Even if it’s not much?  Even if it’s just a little bit?  Imagine what would happen if we put everything in His hands.

Kingdom of God – I (John 18:36-37) PDF Print E-mail

My brothers and sisters, what does the Kingdom of God mean?  It means the sovereignty, reign and rule of God.  The basic message of Jesus and his disciples in the first three gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke was that the Kingdom of God had come near.  Jesus taught his disciples to pray for its coming.  We find this in Matthew, Chapter 10:9-10, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

Now all Kingdoms’ have at least 10 things:

1st, A King and Lord – a sovereign

The King.  The king is the embodiment of the kingdom, representing its glory and nature.  Authority flows from the king and the word of the king is supreme.

In John 18:36-37, Jesus said,

Having A Piece of the Rock PDF Print E-mail

Beloved, Oh Beloved, Is your house built on rock or on sand.

From the scripture in Matthew 7 that was read, I’d like to use for a thought, which was made famous by the Prudential Life Insurance Company.  “Having a piece of the Rock”.

My brothers and sisters, one of the demands of this Christian journey is that we hear and obey the word of God.  What God demands is that we hear him, and that we hear him.

That’s why throughout the bible you hear the statement, he that has an ear, let him hear.  Not talking about hearing audibly, he’s talking about hearing in terms of conformity. (Obedience)

God is not handling out suggestions, he handing out commands.

He not giving advise, he giving dictates.

Because he only runs his show on his terms.
